RSVP Yes! to the Dilettante Women’s Tri

It’s official! I will complete my goal of becoming a triathlete this year!

How do I know?

Because I was invited to attend the Dilettante Women’s Triathlon, and I RSVPed YES!

It’s pretty exciting to actually have a date on the calendar!

On June 15th, I become I triathlete!

…and I’m kinda shaking and nervous.

Me, the girl who couldn’t even swim a lap with her face in the water just a year ago, about to swim in a competition?

Crazy.

Me, the girl who prefers bikes that can be ridden with sundresses, about to speed along on two wheels in BIKE SHORTS?

Shocking.

Me, the girl who was limping around on crutches, just four months ago, about to run competitively?

Okay, well, this one’s really not that surprising, since running is what I love!

But here’s the thing: I want to do this to prove that I can. I was forced into swimming and biking because of injury, and I’m ready to turn that injury into a positive by joyfully using my new talents! A triathlon will be so fun!

So who’s with me? Who wants to RSVP yes? Come join me!

An RSVP would mean:

1. A chance at a GREAT ADVENTURE with swimming, biking, and running.

2. A chance to have fun with me and tons of other women, with no guys to intimidate (or be smelly)!

3. Yummy chocolates.

PLUS, I’ve got a discount code for you: $10 of with code RUNFUNDONEDWT13 (register here).

I’ve never had a discount code with my blog name! This is very exciting!

So now, here’s the question: At first I said I would do the sprint, because well, it’s my first triathlon. But then I started freaking out about the fact that if I’m doing the sprint (shorter distance), I have to go faster. And, well, I hate going fast, I’m definitely more of an endurance person. What’s a girl to do?

Will you join me for the Dilettante Women’s Triathlon? If you were me, would you do the sprint, or olympic distance?

This triathlon sounds like a lot of fun, especially the no men & chocolate part. Isn’t it exciting to finally have a “date” on the calendar?!

  2. Christine @ Love, Life, Surf

That’s awesome!! You’ll have a great time. I did one tri a while back and had so much fun. I liked the training because you were forced to cross-train. You’ll be fine with the sprint. You don’t actually have to sprint :-)

  3. Jill

This is such a great race! You’ll love it and having a blogs group will make it that much better. I did the sprint last year and am planning on doing the Olympic this year! Of course I would love more friends to do the Olympic, but that’s up to you!

    Ooo! Your first tri! Exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. runfundone

Yay! I’m so excited! Do I need blue tires to finish it?

  5. Lauren

Whoa, miss fancy pants with her own coupon code :) and your first triathlon…woohoo!! I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that I will not be doing a triathlon but I know you will do awesome. I say go with the sprint distance first so you can see how things work, how your body transitions from one thing to the next…you don’t really have to SPRINT it ;)

    1. runfundone

I knew you wouldn’t, and it makes me the saddest ever!

  6. Robyn

You have me stalking the website right now…..

    1. runfundone

Robyn! I wasn’t sure if you were a triathlete! Do it with me! It would be so fun to get a group of girls together to do this one! :)

      1. Robyn

Haha oh I’m no triathlete…I still need to get a decent bike…but I randomly have done two sprint tris back in high school on a whim. I want to try it out though, would be so fun to get a group together. I say go for the Olympic distance :)

        1. runfundone

Yeah! I know that for sure a couple of blogger ladies are in! I hope you decide to do it! It will be like a party!!!

          I don’t have a nice bike either…I’m just using a commuter bike!

  7. TriGirl

Do the sprint with me!! And, like the others said: you don’t have to actually ‘sprint’ :D

    1. runfundone

I think I should probably go with the crowd and do the sprint! Are you doing it for sure, for sure? That makes me so happy! :)

      1. TriGirl

Yup, I’m all signed up! I’m prepping my post :)

  8. Steph

How exciting!!! Yay for your first Triathlon!

    1. runfundone

      Thanks, Steph! I’m excited!

  9. Jill

In reply to your comment on my blog…that is funny that you were faster and skinnier…haha! That’s awesome…thanks for making me feel like there was some truth to that post. I can’t imagine how it couldn’t be true! Why did you move here?

    1. runfundone

Hi Jill! I moved here for my job…but my contract is up in October of this year, so I’m on the hunt again for a job! We’d like to stay up here, but we’ll have to see where I get a job!

  10. Jac @ Challenged & Running in the Bike Lane

This is very exciting news, indeed!!! I’m way excited for you and wish I could use your special coupon code but 1) I live too far away and 2) I’d drown!

    1. runfundone

Thanks, Jac! I bet you’d do okay, you’d just have to learn to swim first!

  11. Jess

How exciting!! I would love to do a triathalon!! Im so awful on a bike though. You will be awesome!!! Can’t wait to hear how you go!

    1. runfundone

Ha! I’m kind of a disaster on the bike! I just figure that it will be okay, because of that old expression about how “it’s like riding a bike…” This means that it should be a natural easy thing for me, right?

  12. Ashley@CupcakesnCrunches

So awesome that you’re doing a tri! I’ve been entertaining the idea of doing one this year too. My best friend does them year round and she’s been begging me to do 1 for the last 3 years. lol

Since it is your first tri, I would do the Sprint…but you seem very fit, so I’m sure you could rock the Olympic too!

P.S. I was reading your “About Me” page and your dog is adorable. Is she a weimaraner?

    1. runfundone

Ha! You should do it! Especially because your best friend could be your personal coach! :)

Yes, Ada the Dog is my silly little weimaraner!
