Happy Valentines Day!
In the name of love, I must tell you the greatest couple news in the Saign-Becky household:
Husband Saign told me that he will run a half marathon with me, as long as I promise to “not bug” him about training! Yay!
Now, anyone who’s ever had a family member knows that the line of “not bugging” is pretty blurry. Am I allowed to suggest that it might be a good idea to train? I’m afraid that such a suggestion might be construed as “bugging.” Dare I ask him to join me for a run? Again, this might fall into the “bugging” category. Ah! What if this blog post counts as bugging???? I’m in over my head here, people! It’s hard to not “bug”!
Regardless, I’m pretty excited. Not because I mind running by myself. I certainly don’t. I very rarely run with other people. But, I’m excited because it’s something special that I want Husband Saign to experience. I think that he’ll be surprised at how fun a half marathon can be. For the first time ever, he’ll get to experience hearing people cheer for him while he runs a course!
Plus, I’m excited to holds hands with him while we cross the finish line.
How cute will that be?
Does your significant other run with you? Do you prefer to run with others, or to run solo?

Aww, this is awesome! I ran my first half with my husband, and it was a great experience! I usually run solo now, sometimes with friends
I would be questioning the extend of bugging too. Hmmm…

Yes. With family members, the bugging line is VERY confusing!

That is really cool!!!! I think that it’s funny he doesn’t want to be bugged about training. How come men tend to want to do their own thing? What makes me really made is when they don’t train and then beat the pants off of me. How unfair! My hubby doesn’t run, but he has said previously he would run a half marathon. That was a couple of years ago. He asked for a Bloomsday training plan for this year so I made one, but I hasn’t ran more than 3 times since I gave it to him 4 weeks ago. I am not even going to ask. I give up. My hubby is a great guy, but he is LAZY when it comes to fitness.

To be honest, it’s probably best for me that he doesn’t train…that way he’ll run WITH me. He’s pretty in shape, but just doesn’t like running, so him not training will keep him happy by my side, I hope!

YAY! That is wonderful news!
I love running with my boyfriend. He is way faster than I am, but when he sticks with me, I like motivating each other to the end and finishing together. It’s nice to have that support with someone you care about. We haven’t held hands, and I don’t think we ever will because I don’t like people close to my bubble when I run, but my sister and her boyfriend did at the finish line of a 1/2 they ran and the photo did turn out pretty cute!

Ha! You like your space bubble so much that you won’t even hold hands for a few seconds while your cross the finish line? That’s hilarious!

I haven’t bothered Colin at ALL during his journey from no mileage to 30km! lol I think you’re allowed to remind him that this kind of distance won’t run itself. Eventually Colin asked me to make him a plan. lol

Hooray! I think my best half marathon memory was when my boyfriend and I ran Disneyland together. No watches or goals or music, just fun! I’ve also been told to not bug him about training…and I suggest looking for opportunities to ask him to run with you. As in, “Hey do you want to go together tomorrow morning?” as opposed to, “You should probably go run tomorrow morning…”

Ha! I do sometimes tell him that I think he should run…because he’s literally not training AT ALL, but mostly I do just say, “Do you want to come with me?” He’s a no-go.
