Fact: Approximately 1 year ago, I decided to run my first full marathon. Eleven months ago, my shins started to hurt. This pain (coupled with my own stupidity) led to Urgent Care visits, XRays, Sport Medicine Doctor visits, an MRI, crutches, a boot cast, and Physical Therapist visits. (I was not able to run that marathon).
But now, the tides are changing!
I’m feeling really, really good!
I’ve been running for a few months now.
I’m still super paranoid. I do run/walk intervals rather than just running straight through. I ice a lot. I only run 3 days per week. Sometimes I use Advil.
But in general, I’m doing AWESOME!
This past weekend, I ran 11 miles!

In the middle of my 11-miler this past weekend. Another thing that’s fun about recovery: I don’t take my running so seriously, so have no problem stopping mid-run to snap some pics!
I can’t believe how far I’ve come, and I’m feeling really, really strong!
Thank you to all my kind blog friends, and all my kind in real life friends. You all have encouraged me so much over this 11 month journey of pain and frustration. I’m praying that I don’t go back to where I was. I’m hoping that I’ve learned to listen to my body better. I’m grateful for each and every run that I get!
What are you grateful for today? What are you overcoming in your fitness journey?

Congrats! Injury is tough and I’ve been struggling the last 6 months. I’m sure I’ll get back full time soon enough! Ps. I love NUUN and my blue NUUN bottle!

Yay!! So happy to hear this! Congrats on your run. Feels great, right? I too am worried that I’m going to reinjure myself at any moment but I’m so happy to be able to run again. Slowly building my mileage back up.

YES! 11 miles! Woo hoo! I love what you said in the pic caption about stopping for pics and not worrying about it. I have read lots of blogs who talk about how lame it is to do that… I don’t think it is! We’re all on a different journey!
I am grateful for a fresh start to the week today!
