Oh dang, guys. My dream is coming true! I’m going to become a Spartan!
In my never-ending quest to save tons of money on race registration, I could not stop the impulse of volunteering for the upcoming Spartan Sprint, so that I could run the race the same day.
I’m super excited for the jumping over fire, being knocked over by mean men with sticks, and bloodying up my hands trying to climb over things.
In case you’re wondering, in reality this is a disastrous idea, because I am one of the most uncoordinated people that I know, and it’s highly unlikely that I will successfully complete more than 1 obstacle.
Adding to my discoordination problem is that fact that there is NO TIME for me to become more coordinated.
If I had been willing to pay the entry fee for the race like a normal human being, I would have been able to plan ahead, train, slowly becoming a fierce and strong Spartan woman.
Unfortunately, the call for volunteers didn’t go out until 3 weeks before the race, so all I’ve got is 3 weeks to become Spartan strong.
I’ve decided that my best bet is to become super good a burpees, because burpees take very limited coordination, and are the punishment for failing to complete obstacles during a Spartan race.
Despite my inability to appropriately train for the Spartan Sprint, I’m super excited! Get ready to call me Spartan Becky!
What would you focus on if you had only 3 weeks to train for a relatively tough obstacle race? Do you know anyone else who is volunteering for this? I’ll be flying solo, as Husband Saign is recovering from surgery.
